Halloween Night is fast approaching and the RCMP is reminding people to play safe during the festivities.
They’ve released a set of guidelines to help parents and kids ensure that they are safe during Halloween, including not going Trick or Treating alone(whether with a parent or a “buddy” for older kids), keeping in contact with parents and not going into homes or cars of people you don’t know.
RCMP Constable Grant Kirzinger says you should make sure your kids can be seen at all times.
“Especially at dusk, visibility is key. A lot of times, Halloween costumes are dark in colour, but we just encourage parents to make sure [the kids] costumes can be bright. If it is a dark costume, just put some sort of reflective tape on their so that drivers and other pedestrians can see your child.”
Kirzinger adds that the RCMP is there to help on Halloween Night.
“You will see lots of police out, you’ll see us around the town conducting a lot of patrols, just ensuring that everybody gets to where they need to safely, that they’re able to have safe trick or treating. We want to make sure people are aware that we are around and if there is any trouble they can get a hold of us anytime.”
