Turf Laid Down at Walsh Field

The artificial turf is now being rolled out on Walsh Field, which now has an estimated completion date of September 8th.

The project hit some speed bumps with drainage issues. The field basically can’t have any standing water anywhere and whatever water it does take has to be drained out very quickly. It took a few revisions to get the system just right. Locals are also reminded not to stand on the dirt that the turf will go on top of at all. The surface has to be perfectly flat before the turf is laid.

The new scoreboard has been set up and organizers say most areas of the project are ninety percent or more finished. The turf is the only major area that still has lots of work to go. That’s expected to take about twenty days.
