LICA Announces Earth Day Writing Contest Winners

The Lakeland Industry & Community Association (LICA) has announced the winners of their Earth Day writing contest.

This year’s essay theme was “What can you do to keep our lakes and rivers healthy?” Each winner gets a cash prize and a certificate.

Grace Fontaine, a Grade 8 student from Racette J.H. School in St. Paul, was awarded first place honors. Sarah Kraushaar, a Grade 8 student from Assumption JR/Sr High School of Cold Lake, came in second. Steven Duquette, a Grade 8 Student also from Racette J.H. School was third while Ethan Blakie, a Grade 6 Student from Trinity Catholic School in Cold Lake, came in fourth.

“Our 8th annual writing contest was a resounding success!” says LICA’s Board Chairperson and Writing Contest Sub-Committee Chair Andrea Woods. “The enthusiastic students of our region submitted well written, creative essays on What can you do to keep our lakes and rivers healthy? We thank all 184 writers for their fantastic submissions.”
