LICA Holding Earth Day Writing Contest

Earth Day is coming up on Saturday and the Lakeland Industry and Community Association (LICA) is holding a writing contest to get kids thinking about the environment.

The contest is open to students between grade five and eight and the theme this year is “What can you do to keep our lakes and rivers healthy?” In addition to making people think a bit more about pollution, there are prizes involved as well. First prize gets a hundred dollars, second seventy five dollars and third fifty.

LICA says the essay should be somewhere around two hundred to four hundred words in length. All submissions should include the student’s name, address, phone number, grade and school. The deadline to make a submission is coming up fast. Contestants only have until May 1st to get one in.
