State of Emergency Declared in Whitefish Lake

Chief and council have declared a state of emergency in Whitefish Lake due to poor road conditions from this past weekend’s snowfall.

Police, fire and ambulance services will not be available in some parts of the area and garbage trucks will not be running until further notice. Residents are also encouraged to ration their household water usage until the state is lifted. Bussing to schools is still available, but limited. Parents will need to bring their children to the hall at the following times for the rest of the week:

ASHMONT-VILNA
7:45 AM DROP OFF
4:00 PM PICK UP

PAKAN
8:15 AM DROP OFF
3:30 PM PICK UP

The Band Office, Daycare, Health Centre as well as Pakan School will all still be open. The First Nation says the State of Emergency will remain in effect until further notice.
