MD Peace Officers Now Equipped with Overdose Kits

The impact of fentanyl, prescription pain medications and other dangerous opioids has been widely covered across the nation. Now Peace Officers in the MD of Bonnyville will have more tools to combat them.

Public Safety Director Chris Garner told council that  Alberta Health Services had recently provided training the officers and provided each of them with an antidote kit to reverse the effects of an overdose on the scene if they need to. The number of overdoses has increased sharply in recent years and the move is part of a larger provincial effort to reverse the trend.

The kits were provided free of charge.
