How to Get a Walleye Fishing License

While Bourque Lake, Hilda Lake and Lac La Biche have all been opened for Walleye fishing this season, don’t forget that you’ll still need a special license to go out and catch some. Here’s what you need to know.

The licenses are given out through a draw system similar to how hunting draws work. Every fish you decide to keep will have to be tagged with your special license number as well. The application process is on until April 27th.

To enter the drae you have to pay $3.30 and if you win it will be another $11 for the license itself. Your license will be for one of three size classes and you can’t get another for a different size. Draw applications can be purchased online or at Licence Issuers. To apply online, sign up or log in to your account with AlbertaRELM and click here.

If you win the draw and wish to purchase your license online, you must have pre-numbered Government of Alberta paper tags and wires before you start. You have three options to obtain the online paper tags.
