Lakeland Housing Starts Showing Some Signs of Life

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation has released their Housing Starts report for the first quarter of 2017 and the Lakeland appears to be doing a little better so far.

Housing starts are looking a lot better in Cold Lake in particular, although to be fair they literally had nowhere to go but up. Not a single housing project was started in the first quarter of 2016, compared to eleven for the same period this year. Numbers in the MD of Bonnyville are down, though they’re pretty low overall. Three new houses were started on for Q1 of 2017 compared to 6 for the first chunk of 2016.

Overall housing starts are looking better across the province this year. 5,548 have been reported so far in tracked areas (centres with at least 10,000 people) compared to 4,596 over the same time last year.
