Bonnyville Daycare Qualifies For 25 Dollar a Day Pilot Project

The Bonnyville & District Daycare Centre will be part of a provincial pilot program that will set prices at 25 dollars a day.

The daycare is one of 22 to be announced as part of the program today.  Starting May 1st, the daycare will have more spaces, more supports for children with diverse needs and more flexible hours. The daycare will be offering early morning, late evening and weekend programming, which also means more staff to be hired. Those hours will be largely dependent on what there’s demand for in the town.

Director Kim Harvie got a call from the Ministry telling her the good news and was overwhelmed. “Overwhelmed at what it meant for our community and just overwhelmed at the changes our centre is going to undergo.

“We’re super excited that it’s here and we look forward to making it happen for our community.”

The pilot project will run for three years.
