A Bonnyville Man in Custody Following Police Case and Multiple Charges

**PRESS RELEASE FROM BONNYVILLE RCMP DETACHMENT**

On March 25, 2015 at 11:10 a.m. Bonnyville RCMP received a complaint of a stolen vehicle. Bonnyville RCMP located the vehicle a short time later and made attempts to stop the vehicle. The vehicle did not stop for police and was later located, abandon, in a rural area south of Cold Lake.  Bonnyville and Cold Lake RCMP, along with the assistance of an RCMP police dog and RCMP air services arrested a male suspect hiding in a garage on a rural property.

 

33 year old Zachary Wierzba of Bonnyville was treated in hospital for minor injuries he received from contact with the police dog. Wierzba faces charges of criminal flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, theft of motor vehicle and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

 

As a result of a further investigation, Wierzba has also been charged with 11 other offences throughout North Eastern Alberta and North Western Saskatchewan which include; two counts of Theft of Motor Vehicle over $5,000, Mischief under $5,000, Arson, two counts of Operate a Motor Vehicle while Disqualified, two counts of Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000, Theft under $5,000, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Criminal Flight from Police.

 

Wierzba has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial court on April 7th, 2015 for first appearance.
