St. Paul Exploring the Idea of a Youth Council.

St. Paul values the opinions of its youth population, and is looking into ways to connect with their youth. On March 23rd, Town council, along with superintendent of schools Glen Brodziak, heard a presentation on the impact and importance of a youth council in the community.

The presentation showed the success a youth council has had on The City of Edmonton, which was very compelling and the town has decided to research the idea more. Mayor of St. Paul, Glenn Anderson, says “the youth council would have the ability to weight in and give feedback on decisions and town issues, town councilors would hear from them and not necessarily have to use their opinion”, but rather use it as a tool to see what the youth perspective it.

A committee has been formed, with Councillor Dwight Wiebe heading the team, to explore this idea further and see if a youth council is feasible for St. Paul.
