One Dead in Accident on Highway 660

Bonnyville RCMP attended a fatal car accident on highway 660 this morning around 8:45 a.m.

A pick-up truck travelling westbound attempted to pass a vehicle and a snow plow then collided with an oncoming pick-up truck travelling eastbound head on.

The driver of the eastbound truck, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by EMS. The driver of the westbound truck, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Traffic was re-routed around the collision scene for several hours while police and an RCMP collision analyst investigated.

There will be no charges laid regarding this collision. Poor visibility and weather are considered contributing factors.

No further updates will be provided and the deceased’s name will not be released.

While highways remain open at this time, emergency crews in Bonnyville are advising residents to avoid travelling by car in today’s weather.
