The numbers are in the Lakeland Humane Society’s Dogs N’ Divas gala and the event brought them 50,000 dollars closer to a new shelter.
“We were thrilled with it,” says Kathy Olliffe-Webster. “With the economy being the way it is and we had a hard time selling tickets at the beginning. So we were a little worried a bit but everybody came through and we had a great time. You can’t beat that.”
The gala is the only fundraiser where all the money the Society collects goes directly towards a new building. They need two million dollars to complete the project, but they can start work before getting all the money they need.
