The Wolf and Coyote Reduction Program in the MD Successful

The Municipal District of Bonnyville is in the final week of its Wolf and Coyote Reduction Program which helps reduce livestock attacks by reducing the number of predators in the Lakeland.

During the three years the program has been in effect, The MD has seen around 1100-1200 coyotes brought in annually. There has been a smaller number of wolves brought in during the reduction program, mainly because wolves can be crafty and a trickier animal to catch.

Despite this The MD is pleased with the number of predators brought in and has seen a significantly lower number of attacks to livestock since instating the program. The Reduction Program ends March 31st, up until then the MD will pay $15 per coyote and $75 per wolf brought in.
