The money is still being counted, but shelter manager Kathy Olliffe-Webster says early signs look good for the Lakeland Humane Society’s Dogs N’ Divas Gala over the weekend.
“It was great. We had a good turnout, everything went according to plan, people were generous at the silent auction. It was good.”
Olliffe-Webster says they sold about three quarters of the tickets they had, which is fairly good considering the state of the local economy. All the money raised from the event will go directly towards building a new shelter, which the Society desperately needs.
An official total on funds raised should be ready by Friday or early next week.
