Small Town Saturday Night Update for The Lakeland

Only two days remain to vote for the top ten nominees in Big Valley Jamboree’s Small Town Saturday Night contest.

Four Lakeland communities have put forward bids in the first round of voting, hoping to get a BVJ concert featuring Gord Bamford on April 29th. The top ten towns with the most votes will go into the final vote for the ultimate prize from March 13th to 27th.

As it stands now, Ashmont is in decent shape to make the next round at 7th place and five percent of the vote. Should they win, the proceeds of the concert will go to the local ag society. St. Paul is in the mix as well, hoping to benefit the animal shelter. They sit at a precarious tenth with four percent.

Cold Lake and Glendon’s bids are going to need a massive push in the next two days if they want to get anywhere near the top ten. Both sit way at the bottom of the leaderboard, with only Strathmore getting fewer votes than either of them. Should Cold Lake make a comeback to win the concert, money would be raised for the Veterans Memorial at Metis Crossing. If Glendon should pull the same feat, the Glendon Ag Society would be the one to benefit.
