Repeat Offender Arrested in Walmart Shoplifting

A police officer is never fully off the job. One Cold Lake RCMP member found himself having to make an arrest while shopping at the local Walmart.

Staff recognized the officer and asked for his help with a 32-year-old who was shoplifting and breaching his conditions not to enter the business.

The officer arrested the man, who resisted and some on-duty officers were sent from the detachment to take over the situation.

Micheal Daniels of Cold Lake now finds himself charged with resisting arrest, theft under $5,000 and failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance.

Daniels has also been charged in the past for stealing Blurays from the Walmart, as well as stealing a donation box for the Stollery Children’s Hospital from the Cold Lake Recycling Centre.

Daniels is currently out on bail while more court appearances are scheduled.
