After working on a date, the city of Cold Lake has announced that an initial meeting to look into starting a Citizens on Patrol group will be February 7th.
While a time and location still need to be worked out, the meeting will include a presentation from a member of the Alberta Citizen on Patrol Association and will outline the workload and expectations that come with starting a chapter up, which includes a fair bit of training.
There had been a previous attempt to start a chapter up in Cold Lake but it was abandoned early on. The Cold Lake RCMP says that if a group does get formed, they would be more than happy to assign a constable as a liaison between the chapter and local police. Citizens on Patrol stresses that those who attend the meeting should be prepared to volunteer.
