RCMP Called to Big Island FN Incident

RCMP are currently at the scene of an incident in the community of Big Island Lake First Nation northeast of Pierceland.

Local police don’t believe there is any threat to the public at this time, but they  ask everybody to keep on alert and to follow all instructions in the event of evacuations or traffic detours.The nearby school in the community is closed and classes have been cancelled for the day.

The RCMP urges the public not to go near the area and to avoid posting the locations of officers and their vehicles to social media.

Updates should be forthcoming later in the day.
