Cold Lake Looking Into Citizens on Patrol Group

After a meeting with RCMP and local residents, Mayor Craig Copeland says he and the city are in the very early stages of exploring a possible Citizens on Patrol group in the district.

“[After the meeting] I promised them I would reach out and find the organization to do a presentation on how you go about forming a community policing chapter,” The Mayor says referring to a group of citizens who expressed interest in the idea.

“I’m emailing back and forth the person that’s going to be doing that presentation and working with her in terms of what dates work, so we are going to be bringing a presentation to Cold Lake. We’ll be announcing that shortly.

“What we want to do is make sure that the residents that are interested in forming a chapter know all the policies and procedures and what’s expected. Of course I can’t say enough good about the RCMP and they’re fully engaged and board with that. More eyes watching is better.”
