The Bonnyville Child & Adolescent Mental Health Clinic has announced that they will be launching a Mental Wellness Camp for children and teenagers this coming summer.
In a letter to town council, Mental Health Navigator for the clinic, Alena Thompson explains that the program was made possible through a 25,000 dollars in funding from the Imperial Oil Community Investment Grant. “This summer camp will be available to the youth in our clinic who can’t attend traditional summer camps because of their mental health needs. At the Child & Adolescent Mental Wellness Summer Camp, we will offer the youth fun activities and time with peers while learning more about their illness and learning new strategies and skills to better manage it.”
Town council voted to include the camp under their own insurance at Tuesday’s council meeting, covering expenses on that front.
