Lakeland Humane Society Looking For Silent Auction Items

The Lakeland Humane Society is hoping some generous citizens will be able to donate silent auction items for their annual Dogs & Divas Gala coming up on February 11th.

“Honestly we will take anything,” says Shelter Manager Cathy Oliffe-Webster. “Anything that’s gifty, new, anything that you’d want yourself. Anything that you’d covet, that’s what we want in our silent auction. It doesn’t matter if it’s a little thing. It doesn’t have to be a big expensive thing because we’ll be putting some of them in groups. We would just be happy with any gift that you’re willing to donate.”

She adds a few gifts are making to their way to the society already, but she wanted to get the word out there. “For example, I can’t resist buying things myself for this auction. I’ve been putting together a camping theme and I have a bunch of things people who are campers are going to love. I’ve been having a lot of fun doing that and I thought ‘You know, maybe I’ll put it out there.’ Maybe you don’t have to be a business owner. Maybe you have fun shopping for something like this yourself.”
Tickets for the gala are still available. Tickets 65 dollars each. A table of eight is 500. All proceeds from the event will go directly towards saving for the construction of a brand new shelter.
