The number of coyotes and wolves being brought in under the the MD of Bonnyville’s Reduction Program has dropped off from previous years.
To date, 76 coyotes have been brought in and not a single wolf. However, this isn’t causing any worry. “You know what? Maybe that’s a good thing,” Director of Agriculture and Waste Services Matt Janz told council. “Obviously there aren’t as many animals out there right now as we’re still seeing a few. There’s no concern by us that we’re seeing a huge drop in numbers, but definitely less numbers coming into the program.”
The program continues until March 31st, the MD will pays out $15 per coyote and $75 per wolf killed.
