Bonnyville Daycare Centre Hoping For 25 Dollar Daycare Program

The Bonnyville Daycare Centre is hoping to become one of three daycares in northern Alberta to become the province’s guinea pigs for the 25 dollar a day daycare program.

The project would add some complications though. “It would also require them to expand their services,” explained FCSS Director David Beale to Bonnyville town council. “Which will mean the FCSS and Parentlink will have to become creative in how we offer our programs, joint use space and so forth. That will mean we will have to do some sorting out if they’re successful. My recommendation from a community service point of view is that the benefit of 25 dollar a day daycare to the citizens of Bonnyville, outweighs the discomfort the FCSS might have in finding space to do their work.”

It’s a long shot though. Bonnyville is one of over fourty daycares in the north hoping to get one of the three slots. Altogether, eighteen daycares province-wide will be involved in the pilot program.
