Wolrd Junior A Challenge Begins

After many months of planning the World Junior A Challenge officially began in Bonnyville yesterday with a pair of Canadian wins.
“Day one in the books and we’re awfully excited about how it went,” says Committee Chair Rob Hunter. “It’s great to see the turnout at the rink. It seems like everybody in Bonnyville had a good time and a whole lot of people from out of town as well. Somebody from Lac La Biche won the 50/50 in the night game yesterday. Pretty exciting that everybody was out and enjoying day one of competiton.”
He adds that the challenge’s arrival seems a little surreal from time to time after so much work. “I’m sure glad we did all the planning, because things went very smoothly on day number one.”

Fans will be happy to know that tickets are still available for every game remaining in the tournament. Today the United States plays the Czech Republic at 3:30 and Canada East plays Russia in a rematch of the gold medal game at 7.
