Bonnyville Curling Club Seeking Repairs/Upgrades to Building

The Bonnyville Curling Club’s facility has seen better days and is need of some vital repairs and upgrades.

The club has a three-year plan for getting everything that needs to be done accomplished, but priority number one is the roof, which has leaks in several places. The estimated cost is well beyond what the club can afford on their own so they’ve gone to local government in the hopes of some assistance with funding.

“We’ve made (our pitch) to the town council and next Wednesday or possibly one of their meetings in January, we’re going to be giving the same presentation to the MD,” says Club Vice-President Samantha Mare. She feels the presentation went very well. “We had done our homework. We had a very good presntation to present to them. We were very open with our infrormation, didn’t try to hide finances or anything like that from them. We’re a non-profit so we do need all the help we can. We had a second follow up meeting that also went really well, so we’re just waiting to hear.”

Also on the to do-list is replacing furnaces and comestic upgrades to the ice. The ice-plant is aging as well and the hope is to replace it in the next three years as well.
