Artist Wanted For Bonnyville Canada 150 Artwork

A group of local non-profit organizations along with the town and MD of Bonnyville are looking for an artist to create some artwork for Canada’s 150th birthday.

A final location for the piece hasn’t been determined yet, but the committee says it will be in a public area and it’s probably going to be fairly large. Laurie Fitzpatrick with the Bonnyville Friendship Centre -one of the organizations working on the project- says they have a general idea what they’re looking for. “We were wanting this mosaic or collage done maybe in the shape of a Canada flag with puzzle pieces fitting together and in each piece have something representing that cultural group in Bonnyville. “Fitzpatrick adds that some of the pieces could represent long-standing organizations in businesses in the town as well.

The committee hopes to reveal the piece on June 30th of 2017. the closing date for submissions is January 10th. Anyone interested in taking the project on is encouraged to call Laurie at 780-826-3374 for details and submit an application to:

The town and MD of Bonnyville, as well at the Bonnyville Library, Dove Centre, FCSS and Community Learning Council are on the committee as well. They’re waiting on a funding grant right now to see what kind of budget they’ll have to play with.
