Pack the PC raises Just Under 2,500 Pounds for Food Bank

In just four hours on Saturday, Cold Lake Peace Officers were able to fill up nine cruisers to the brim with donations to the local food bank.

Officers were outside the Sobey’s and No-Frills between 1 and 5 collecting donations for their annual “Pack the Patrol Car” fundraiser. Peace Officer Robert Mercer says Cold Lake Elementary in particular stepped up to the plate. “(They) donated a vehicle themselves… I think it was about 440 pounds of groceries they donated. Ms. Geddes’s class came in today to the food bank and volunteered for an hour or so to put the donations away.”

Victim Services raised $2,700 in cash donations as well. In total just under 2,500 pounds of food were raised. “Just a little shy from last year, but pretty well on par,” says Mercer. “But given the economic circumstances, I’m very pleased as always with the City of Cold Lake and their generosity and willingness to help.”
