Festival of Trees Today and Tomorrow

Bonnyville’s Festival of Tress kicks off today.

The event is both today and tomorrow and features a variety of Christmas trees with goodies on them people can make bids on. All the proceeds go to the hospital to recruit more doctors.

Organizer Doreen Kushnir says things are going “awesome” so far, with more people coming through the doors then she’s ever seen before.

Along with the silent auction for trees, Bonnyville Mayor Gene Sobolewski was providing live music to guests, who could sit down and enjoy some coffee while they listened to some Christmas carols. Santa’s Workshop is up and running as well, where kids can go and pick out a present for their parents. No grownups allowed in there though!

Last year’s festival raised 15,000 dollars and organizers are hoping to at least match that figure again this year.
