Deborah Doonanco Found Guilty of 2nd Degree Murder

Deborah Doonanco has been found Guilty of murdering her common-law husband Kevin Feland.

Doonaco shot Feland while he was on the couch in their Glendon home in May of 2014. She then proceeded to burn the house down and called 911, claiming he had started the fire. While she later admitted to the crimes, she and her defence claimed she was suffering from abuse, saying Feland was addicted to drugs and would make death threats.

A second degree murder conviction comes with an automatic life sentence. However, eligibility for parole can be granted for anywhere between 10 and 25 years. Doonanco’s sentencing has been scheduled for January 16th to 18th. She was also found guilty of arson and indecently interfering with human remains.
