Cold Lake Simplifying Funding Grants

The city of Cold Lake is streamlining the process for people and groups looking for funding.

The newly introduced Capital Project Grant Policy puts everything into one standardized application. Now for example, thre is one single annual deadline for applications. Anyone that doesn’t get one in by March 1st will have to wait until next year.

Several other criteria have been defined as well.  In order to be eligible, an organization must be based in the City of Cold Lake, and registered as not-for-profit, or as a charitable organization. As well, the organization must demonstrate sustainability, and their primary mandate must be to provide sports, recreation, arts, culture, social services, or community wellness within Cold Lake.

Applicants will only be allowed to receive one Community Capital Project Grant every two years. The grant will cover up to one-third of the project costs, up to a maximum of $50,000.

After the application has been completed, and matching funding from the applicant organization has been confirmed, letters of support need to be gathered from the community, and proof that the space or land the project will take place on fits within the grant’s guidelines will have to be provided as well..

After the March 1st deadline, a selection committee will provide their recommendations to City Council by March 30th. Council will then select recipients by April 30th.

A full list of criteria, forms, and the application process will be found on www.coldlake.com, and an announcement will be made once it becomes available.
