$211000 Funding From Federal Government to Help Rebuild Beaver River Trestle Bridge.

$211000 will be given through a grant to help rebuild The Beaver River Trestle Bridge. The landmark bridge, which connects Cold Lake to the rest of the Iron Horse Trail, was badly damaged in a 2012 fire. The fire caused an estimated $2 million in damages that will need repairs before the bridge can be used. Three men, one from Ardmore and two from Cold Lake, were charged with arson in the incident.

With the help of Westlock-St. Paul MP Brian Storseth a group of citizens who use the trail, like snowmobilers and the non-profit organization Northest Muni-Corr worked together to secure the funding through the federal government’s National Trails Coalition funding. The National Trails Coalition funding will see $10 million nationally invested in trails.
