Oilers GM Coming to Bonnyville For World Junior A Banquet

The world Junior A Challenge next month is already bringing a great deal of attention to Bonnyville. Now the banquet welcoming the teams will feature a very high profile guest.

The organizing committee has just announced that Oilers President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Peter Chiarelli will be a guest speaker at the “Welcome the World” hockey banquet on December 10th.

Committee member Robb Hunter is excited to have such an esteemed figure attend. “A lot of work went into it. We’ve got a great group of committee volunteers that have been putting in long hours and doing some great work in bringing the world to Bonnyville this December. One of our volunteers has done an amazing job of working on a guest speaker for the banquet and what a job he did to bring in a big name like Peter Chiarelli.”

In typical small town fashion, it seems word might have gotten out in a few circles. “We may have been talking to some committee members about the guest speaker and while it hadn’t officially come out, certainly around town we’ve had a few people come up to us asking if the rumours were true. We do have a bit of a feel that there is a tremendous buzz in the community.”

The event will be at the c2 Fieldhouse with cocktails beginning at 5:30. Tickets are 40 dollars a piece with a table of 8 going for 320. They can be purchased at Tellier Guardian Pharmacy as well as a few other places.
