Bonnyville residents who want to buy a poppy for Remembrance Day can now do so.
Comrade Dwayne Hite, who manages the Legion Hall in town says the campaign was launched yesterday locally with the boxed to make donations in most the stores downtown. However, he has some concerns about this year’s fundraising.
“Money’s scarce this year… a lot of places said ‘Sorry we just don’t have the money for it,’ so we just said ‘we’ll leave you the poppy box and what have you.”
Bonnyville’s Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held at the C2 at 10 o’clock. Afterwards there will be a luncheon at the Legion Hall with live music. A choir will be there as well, who will also go to a few homes to perform. Things will conclude with Legion members visiting grave sites to pay their respects.
