Operation Christmas Child is getting started for another year in Cold Lake.
The initiative calls upon residents to fill a shoebox with gifts and essentials and send them to needy children in desperate situations around the world. Often they have fallen victim to the ravages of war, disaster and grinding poverty.
The national collection deadline this year is exactly one month away on November 20th. Canadian boxers are designated for several countries in Central and South America, as well as Africa, Haiti and Ukraine. Boxes meant for Ukraine should have specific labelling saying so to avoiding shipping winter mitts off to the tropics.
You can drop your shoebox off in Cold Lake at the Tri-City Mall. It will be open on November the 18th, 19th and 20th. The 18th will be from 3-7, the 19th from 12-4 and the 20th 1-3.
