Kidsport Bonnyville Running Low on Funds

Tough times across Alberta have had a significant impact on non-profit organizations, and Kidsport Bonnyville is no different in this regard.

The organization pays for disadvantaged children’s registration fees to play in competitive sports. “We had in increase in registrations in 2015 and that trend continued here in 2016”, explains President Brad Ollen. “Due to a lack of fundraising opportunities, we’ve nearly spent all of our funds putting kids into sport. So we’re looking for any fundraising opportunities in the community so that we can continue putting kids into sport.”

The organization was paying up to 500 dollars in registration fees per kid, but at a meeting on Tuesday voted too cut that back to 300 to save what money remains. Kidsport Bonnyville will be doing to coat check for the World Junior A Banquet to get some extra money, but no other means of fundraising are confirmed for the remainder of the year at this time.
