Portage College Opening Student Hair Salon to Public in Lac La Biche

Residents in Lac La Biche will have another option for a haircut as Portage College’s new Hairstyling program opens its’ doors to the public with a student salon.

The college took in its first fourteen students into the new program this fall semester. Starting next Tuesday (October 11th), they’ll be using their newly acquired skills for members of the public at large.

“I am very impressed with the students’ progress and the skills they are developing. The salon is a wonderful opportunity for the students to showcase their knowledge and skills. We are all very excited and looking forward to sharing this journey with our future clients,” said Stephanie Monteith, the coordinator and an instructor for the Hairstyling program.

The salon will be located on the lower floor of the college and will be open from Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

“We’re very proud of what our first group of hairstyling students have accomplished in such a short period,” said Dr. Trent Keough, President and CEO of Portage College. “It will be wonderful for the community to not only experience first-hand our new facilities, but also to have the opportunity to support these talented individuals.”
