Friendship Centre Holding Free Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday

As has been tradition for many years, everyone is invited to the Bonnyvile Friendship Centre’s Free Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, the 6th.

This year the dinner is at the Beaver River Fish and Game Building. Doors open at 4:30 with the meal served at 5. Dignitaries from Bonnyville town council and the RCMP will be present as well.

The Friendship Centre certainly has a lot of be thankful for heading into the long weekend. “I just love Bonnyville” says Assistant Executive Director Pauline Mawer. “They just rallied around us and food has been coming in. We’re overstocked. We’ve been getting fresh potatoes and tomatoes and carrots and meat. It’s just been overwhelming how much the community has supported us and we’re so grateful. If there was another way to say thank you I would say it, but I just want to say thank you Bonnyville. You’re amazing.”

The dinner is always a popular event in town. Last year the centre counted over 200 people who attended. All the usual Thanksgiving food will be there. Turkey, mashed potatoes and all the other fixings. Black Forest cake will be served for desert as well.
