Two Charged in Car Theft Near Waskatenau

A man living near Waskatenau was driving home on the 22nd, when he came across a rather unsettling sight. Two people were in another one of his cars and driving off with it.

In an attempt to stop them, he parked his car in front of the vehicle but they were able to escape, damaging his car in the process. Fortunately he was not injured.

Smoky Lake RCMP patrolled the area and were eventually able to find the stolen vehicle on Highway 28. It was parked next to another car and Police believe the suspects were trying to break into that one as well. Both fled on foot but were arrested a short time later.

Conrad Tyler Quewezance, a 31-year-old from Calgary was charged with:

  • Theft of vehicle (x2)
  • Theft of trailer
  • Assault with weapon
  • Resist arrest
  • Fail to comply with recognizance (x2)

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Resisting arrest

Both were remanded into custody and will appear in Fort Saskatchewan Provincial court on Sept. 29th, 2016.
