After narrowing busing fees down to only students living within a kilometre of their school, the Lakeland Catholic School District has decided to do away with them altogether.
The decision was made at a special board meeting earlier today. A press release from the district sates that the board “felt that this decision was in the best interest of the few families affected by the previous transportation policy.”
The decision comes after the Catholic School District already reduced the bus fee applicable zone from 2.5 kilometres to one earlier before this school year began. Northern Lights announced that they were removing all busing fees on August 30th.
Families that have already paid the fees will be refunded. Refunds should be processed towards the end of the month.
