AHS to Set Up Portable Mammogram Trailer in Kehewin Next Month

Alberta Health Services has announced that they will be bringing a trailer to Kehewin next month to provide mammograms.

Women between the ages of 50 and 74 are will be able to book an appointment for either October 4th or 5th. Residents can book an appointment or learn more about the program by calling 1-800-667-0604.

The visit is part of AHS’s Screen Test Program, which aims to provide mammogram services and detect breast cancer early in women in remote communities.

“A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast and has proven to be the most effective way to detect breast cancer,” the press release from AHS reads. “Early detection allows for a greater number of options for treatment and a better chance of survival.”
