Fort McMurray International Airport Evacuated Over Bomb Threat

A bomb threat led to the evacuation of the Fort McMurray airport. On December 19th, RCMP evacuated the Fort McMurray airport after talk of explosives was overheard. The man who was heard making the comments was arrested and charges are pending. Police have determined the man chose a poor topic of discussion at the airport and threats made against the safety of an aircraft and/or its occupants are criminal code offences. RCMP searched the area but did not find a dangerous device. No one was injured and officers say the public was not in any danger. The airport was re-opened the same day.
