Imperial Oil is holding an open house Wednesday to field questions regarding their planned expansion at their Cold Lake site.
The session will be held at the Riverhurst Community Hall from 4 to 8. The open house is a legally required step in the application process with the province.
The company plans to tap into the Grand Rapids formation, which it says contains roughly 550 million barrels of oil. The company also plans to introduce new technologies at expansion site that could reduce greenhouse gas emissions and water use per barrel by about 25 per cent compared to conventional methods.
