Although Phase 2 of its’ expansion project is still on hold until the economy improves, Osum has announced that there will be some new additions at its Orion facilities soon.
First off will be the installation of the first of two new boilers to increase steam capacity. That’s expected to begin this month and wrap up by mid-December.
Next, the company will rent a reverse osmosis water treatment unit in November, providing increased water treatment capacity while also treating brackish.
By 2017, a crystallizer is planned to be installed to reduce waste from water treatment by over 80%. The company says that will take the equivalent of six large trucks off the road per day.
Most of these projects are designed to lower environmental impact while the company waits for the right conditions to launch phase 2 of their expansion plans.
