Fatal Accident in Cold Lake

Cold Lake RCMP are investigating a fatal accident on 16th avenue that happened over the weekend.

Police were called to the 7/11 at 5:30 where two men were fighting, one of whom was holding a knife and appeared to be drunk. The man with the knife drove off in an SUV before police arrived.

Another cop saw the man driving erratically on highway 28 and tried to pull him over without success. The officer briefly lost sight of the car but eventually caught up to the scene of a serious accident between it and a truck.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck held a man, a woman and a three-year old child. Fortunately they were released from hospital with minor injuries a short while later.
