CLFN Conducting Study to Determine Safety of Eating Local Moose

The Cold Lake First Nations is undertaking a study to determine if local moose are safe to eat and need participants to fill out surveys.

The First Nations is trying to determine how much members are being exposed to environmental contaminants from Moose meat and organs. An important part of the study is determining how much moose members are eating. The Consultation department is encouraging all current and present hunters to participate in their survey. All responses will be kept anonymous and the information will be used to determine if there is in fact a health risk.

The second part of the study involves collecting samples of Moose meat and organs. Hunters, youth and elders will be trained in how to properly collect them.

To participate or for more information, contact Tiffany Janvier at the Consultation Office.
