MD to Spend 80K Fixing Bridge Near Franchere Park

The MD of Bonnyville has voted to spend 80,000 dollars to fix the bridge near Franchere Provincial Park.

The bridge had received some damage to the support piles from ice flows over the winter. After assessing the situation, the contractor provided the MD with two options, either removing the walkway on the bridge along with minor repairs for 45,000 dollars or repairing the walkway as well for 80. Council chose the latter as the bridge’s close proximity to the campground results in a lot of campers fishing off of it.

It was also noted that when the bridge hits its expiry date and needs to replaced, it might be a good idea to install some extra safety measures for pedestrians.
