With a slumping economy throughout the province, the organizers of the Bonnyville rodeo were worried that this year’s event would be a struggle. However, they wound up with the exact opposite.
Mitch Michaud says the weather cooperated all four days to make this year’s rodeo a smashing success well beyond expectations. In fact, this year probably set a record for Thursday attendance. Exact figures aren’t in yet but things are looking very positive.
This year’s rodeo saw Luke Tournier defend his championship from 2015, with John Walters coming second. Jess Willard took over Cliff Cunningham’s wagon in third place while Roger Moore and Kelly Sutherland came fourth and fifth.
