Food Bank Supply at Friendship Centre Getting Desperate

Supplies at the food bank for the Bonnyville Friendship Centre are reaching unprecedented lows.

Assistant Executive Director Pauline Mawer says she and her husband have had to buy food out of their own pocket lately, something they’ve never had to do before. Supplies are so low that she’s come close to having completely bare shelves some weeks and many clients find themselves with far smaller baskets then they need.

The Sizzling Summer Expo this weekend is doing its part to help. Half of every 2 dollar ticket sold will go towards the food bank. You can also get in by donating a non perishable food item instead. The Friendship Centre will have a booth set up on both days as well.

A list of what the Centre needs most can be viewed on the poster above.
