Charges Laid Against 2 After Meth, Evidence of Fraud Found in Vehicle

Two people were arrested in Bonnyville on the 2nd on drug and identity theft charges.

One officer noticed a vehicle with a licence plate that didn’t match up with what it was supposed to be while on regular patrol, but noticed a lot more too. A 23-year-old man known to police stepped out and when the officer pulled up to speak to the 28-year-old woman driving, he happened to notice the crystal meth sitting on the center console, which got her arrested on possession charges. A further search revealed several financial documents that didn’t belong to the driver as well and were being used for fraud.

The woman was later released on court compelling documents to appear in court on August 2nd, 2016 in Bonnyville Provincial Court for 7 charges of Identity Theft, Failing to Comply with Conditions, and two charges under the traffic safety act. The male was located by police and while in custody admitted to possession of the methamphetamine that was found in the vehicle. The male was released on court compelling documents to appear on the same day in Bonnyville for charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Failing to Comply with Conditions.
